The Ontario Quad
Safety Council

We promote ATV and side-by-side rider safety,
awareness, and advocacy across Ontario.

Our History

The Ontario Quad Safety Council was established in 2012 to support ATV instructors across Ontario with quality training programs. Today, we’ve expanded to education, advocacy and programs that benefit all riders – making Ontario’s trails safer for everyone.

The OQSC collaborates closely with the Ontario Federation of All Terrain Vehicle Clubs (OFATV) to enhance ATV and side-by-side rider safety across Ontario. This partnership reflects a shared commitment to promoting safe riding practices, education, and advocacy for riders of all ages.

Ready to RideOn

Ready to RideON is an online safety training program designed specifically for young riders aged 12 to 15 in Ontario, where no licence or prior rider training is required for trail riding. Recognizing the inherent risks associated with ATV and Side-by-Side riding—highlighted by the alarming statistics of 151 deaths and over 1,500 injuries between 2016 and 2022 in Ontario—the Ontario Quad Safety Council, in collaboration with the Ontario Federation of All Terrain Vehicle Clubs (OFATV), Yamaha Motor Canada, and Bombardier Recreational Products, has launched this program to address a critical gap in youth rider safety education.

Trail Warden Program

The Trail Warden Program plays a crucial role in enhancing rider safety and enjoyment on our trails. Wardens are on the ground to guide and educate riders, ensuring everyone follows safe practices and respects their environment. More specifically, wardens are responsible for checking trail passes, liaising with local law enforcement and landowners, encouraging adherence to posted signage, being prepared for emergencies, and educating riders on proper trail etiquette. The primary goal of the program is to create a safe and enjoyable environment for trail users.
