A Message from Our Executive Director: A Year of Milestones and Adventures with OFATV
To our members and supporters,
As we approach the end of 2024, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible progress we’ve made together this year. Our community has grown stronger, and our commitment to promoting safe and enjoyable ATV experiences across Ontario has never been more evident.
This year, we hosted our first-ever Queen’s Park Day, where we engaged in meaningful discussions with policymakers about the future of ATVing in Ontario. These conversations were further enriched by hosting rides with members of parliament throughout the year, showcasing the beauty of our sport and its positive impact on tourism.
One of the highlights of the year was the launch of the Ready to RideON program, Ontario’s first online ATV training course for youth developed in partnership with BRP and Yamaha. This initiative equips young riders with the knowledge and skills to enjoy the trails safely and responsibly. To make it even more exciting, we partnered with Can-Am to offer a special contest—anyone who registers for the course by June 30, 2025, is entered to win a Can-Am Renegade EFI Youth ATV!
We also introduced a new blog, which has become a hub for sharing stories, tips, and news within our community. From highlights of Don’s ATV Adventures to safety insights from OPP Sgt. Dave Moffat, the blog has been a wonderful way to connect and share valuable information. Stay tuned for even more incredible content in the new year.
During ATV Safety Week, we partnered with key organizations, including the OPP and Ornge, to promote responsible riding practices. Additionally, our newly announced partnership with Co-operators has been a fantastic step forward, and we’re excited to continue fostering relationships with new and existing partners in 2025.
This year was extra special as we celebrated our 25th anniversary with a memorable ride, honoring a quarter-century of dedication to the ATV community. 60 bikes and 90 participants joined the VMUTS Poker Run, including 18 riders and 7 passengers from the OFATV Board of Directors, staff, and guests.
We also continued our annual raffle with incredible prizes, with proceeds of over $35,000 supporting initiatives that keep our trails safe and enjoyable for everyone.
To cap off the year, MPP Steve Clark tabled a motion advocating for a single permit system in Ontario, a significant step toward unified trail access.
These accomplishments are a testament to the passion and dedication of our members, volunteers, and partners. Your unwavering support makes it all possible, and together, we’re paving the way for a brighter future in ATVing across Ontario.
Wishing you a safe and enjoyable holiday season, and here’s to even more adventures in the coming year!
Warm regards,
Shari Black
